2023 Venue Limited owner here. Parents downsized from a Tucson and now I'm driving them around weekly. The cabin is cramped on longer hauls and the suspension feels harsh over older roads. Thought about switching to a Soul until I saw what my neighbor pays for insurance. Do newer trims really justify those premium jumps?

Yeah, Venue can feel stiff on rough roads. On the other hand, Soul offers a bit more rear legroom and cargo space. Not sure though but from what I have heard, insurance prem for newer trims can jump by $100-$130 annually. Try test driving both, that might help you decide!

I never really understood the insurance pricing and I feel like they're just picking random numbers. So new cars have a ton of safety features and in some models those safety features are found in the upper trims, so you'd think you'll pay less? But no, it seems like on top of paying for a premium trim which gives you a generally safer experience, you still need to pay more for insurance because you wanted that safe experience. It makes no sense.

Yeah, the pricing logic is all over the place. I looked into the Soul EX and the quote was nearly $12/month higher than my Venue Limited even though both have similar safety gear. I might still test drive it next week just to see how it handles with my folks in the back. Has anyone here tried adjusting coverage levels or switching providers after upgrading trims? Wondering if that helps offset the jump...
