Nice, congratulations on the new Venue and welcome to the club! Personally, I did my first oil change a little earlier than the manual. I did it right around 3,000 miles, just to get any of the initial break-in stuff out of there. It's a bit of an old-school thought, but it makes me feel better. The manual says to go with the 8,000-mile or 12-month interval, which is pretty standard for modern cars with synthetic blend oil.
You're well within the safe zone, so no need to panic. The engine is designed for those longer intervals. If you want to be extra cautious, you could do it now or wait until 3,000 miles. Otherwise, just stick with what the book says and there shouldn't be any problem!
